I am just back from the
Open Poi Camp in Schwertberg, Upper Austria. So much time seems to have gone by since yesterday morning, when my sister Karoline and I were picked up at my place by crazy Reinhard who also went there. There, I met Christian from
feuercircus and Gregor from
firespirits. They both taught us a lot of techniques and after two days of practising, I know a lot more moves now. I am also owning my own sock pois filled with round dried chick peas (!) and I know for future reference how to create my own fire staff

and fire snakes

.
It was the funniest week-end of this summer because I learned a lot, was in the fresh air all day long, laughed a lot, met a bunch of very talented people (fire artists and dancers, djembe-drummers, jugglers and fire jugglers, singers), sat around a bone fire and shared an amazing time with people I did not know before. The most amazing thing was definitely the sparkling poi twirling of Ilse. And the hornpipes... And the firejugglers... And the drummers... Myself trying my hands on the djembe was fun too.
Reinhard was real fun to share time with because he has so much in common with me (being a tour guide for
PDM, philosophy of life, getting directions, ...). I enjoyed his company very much and hopefully we will be spinning together in Vienna. ;-)
I am thinking of using the sparklers of Ilse for my show at Veli's wedding in Burgas but I am not sure yet about the song. For this, I will have a look at the
library this week. They have a really god selection of world music there.
We came back tonight as it was raining cats and dogs in Upper Austria. I am awfully tired because I could not sleep because of the cold night in the tent.
